The Ik Sansar Foundation’s Gurmat Education Project provides Sikh children facing poverty and limited opportunities the chance to receive an education, empowering them to build positive and self-sufficient futures for themselves and their families. This project aims to break the cycle of poverty, lifting these children to a position where they can support themselves and their families through the skills and knowledge they acquire, ensuring a sustainable future.
Ik Sansar Foundation has initiated work at 2 locations in Punjab, Garh Baba Ajit Singh (Gakhal village in Jalandhar) and Garh Baba Jujhar Singh (Bagha Purana) where a safe, creative and productive space will be fostered to ensure a productive learning environment. This space will have a primary focus of ensuring children learn Gurmukhi, Gurbani santhiya, sikh history and gatka free of charge amongst a positive sangath.
This is where your support is needed! With your support we are able to continue running the Gurmat programs in each area while continuing to support various childrens college education. For as little as $2/day you can sponsor a Sikh child in Punjab and ensure that they have every opportunity to create a brighter future for themselves and their families. Your donation ensures resources needed for their Gurmat classes and the tuition fees for their college education.
The Sikh community has faced many challenges throughout history, yet has always shown resilience and strength. Preserving our language and keeping our children connected to Sikhi are essential in guiding them away from negative influences, such as drugs, which has become a significant issue in Rajasthan and Punjab. Many Sikhs in Rajasthan are losing touch with their language, with most unable to read and write Punjabi. This is why we recognize the importance of creating a safe space for young children to learn Punjabi and deepen their understanding of Sikhi.
Our Journey
In the heart of Rajasthan, guided by Giani Gurdas Singh and supported by our local Sikh Sangat, Ghar Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh came to life. Our mission is to provide free Gurmat education, focusing on Gurmukhi, Gurbani Santhiya, Sikh history, and Gatka, within a nurturing Sangat. What began as a humble initiative has grown into a vibrant community where children thrive in a positive environment. Encouraged by our Sangat’s enthusiasm, we now aim to build a Gurmat Education Center to accommodate this growth and ensure a sustainable future for Sikh education in Rajasthan.
Building for the Future
The need for a dedicated Gurmat Education Center has become evident as our Sangat continues to grow. We are embarking on a journey to raise funds for the construction of this center—a place where Gurmat education will thrive for generations to come.
Join Our Vision
Gurmukhi, the language of Sri Guru Granth Ji, and Gurmat, the teachings of the Gurus, are essential for Sikh children to develop a lifelong relationship of positivity and respect with Guru Sahib and Sikhi. With your support, we can ensure these children maintain their language and stay connected to Sri Guru Granth Ji and Guru Panth, empowering them to live proudly as Sikhs. Our programs will not only impart knowledge but also foster a deep connection to their Sikh roots.
